These dinosaurs will doggedly cling to whatever system, however undemocratic and unrepresentative, which allows them to have unfettered power over the country – at least 70 per cent or more of which always rejects the Tories.

The problem with our politicians choosing who sits in a second chamber is that of corruption. We know that as a body they are totally and utterly dishonest (embezzlers) and corrupt, and that they treat the electorate with contempt, while at the same time they appear to mould their policies around large donations from wealthy patrons.

That religious figures should have any influence at all over Government is an absolute nonsense.
